7 Final conclusions
The scope of the SMARTMUSEUM project involves the right choice of user device from a
number of perspectives, such as technical requirements and market considerations.
Based on the goal the deliverable concluded user needs and SM use scenarios based on
ideas of deliverable D1.1.
Two different devices will be used for SM demonstrator to cover both inside and outside
user scenarios and to cover different user segments (users acquiring SM services with
their own smartphone and users using onsite equipment): HP iPAQ 214 Windows Mobile
will be used as museum owned guiding device and Symbian based Nokia N97 (N96 as a
backup device) will be used as an example of typical user owned SM device. The
selections should be in accordance of mobile Internet device demand and OS market share
in next 2-4 years.
HF RFID technology specified by ISO14443A standard and its components will be used
for museum indoor scenario artifact recognition. The selected devices are SDIO form
factory reader from Wireless Dynamics and Mifare 1k, (NXP S50) 4k (S70) type tags.
